This early autumn morning moonset is reflected in the peaceful waters of this northern Wisconsin lake. Is the divine light reflected in the "peaceful waters" of your life?

Last night I was out watching the full Harvest Moon and the total lunar eclipse. I was trying so hard to get a good picture of it (which I obviously never did) that I wasn't actually enjoying the event very much. It wasn't until I gave up seeking the perfect picture and just sat back and let the moment flow over me that the beauty of the night found me. It was then most pleasing. Does your "seeking" something ever get in the way?
Sitting in the stillness of another beautiful sunrise with the waters of the lake reflecting the glory of the skies prompted me to think of all the beautiful sunrises I have seen over these waters. The turning through the cycle of life is a wonder and a joy: day by day, week by week, month by month, season by season, year by year.
Only a couple of days until the autumnal equinox, but summer is hanging on. The nights carry a new crispness in them and the daylight hours are shortening, but it is still summer. I know some people are anxoius to see the colorful beauty of the autumn leaves , but if we too strongly desire the future we can miss living in the present.
It is not a rainbow, but in this cloud-shrouded sunrise you can see many of the colors of the rainbow. In Christian spirituality the rainbow is a beautiful promise of peace and acceptance. Will you be a rainbow for others today?
Every day is a gift. How will you look at this precious gift you have been given? How will you use it? The gift of the day, and what you make of it, is up to you.
Crescent moon hovers over the lake before the dawn.
Life is so busy, and there is so much to do, but sometimes - if you want to live life to the fullest - you just have to sit for a moment and do nothing but let yourself be open to the experience. A young boy with beautiful dark skin went to his first day of kindergarten. Next to him sat a little girl with much lighter colored skin than his.
She leaned over to him and said, "We don't like people with your color skin." He responded, "Well, then it is a good thing you're a different color." There's a lesson here: for him, for her, for me, for you. It's something to think about. Sometimes you may think your direction in life is clear. You've heard exhortations to follow the straight and narrow path. But the reality of life may be quite different. What if the directions and pathways of life are filled with curves and interconnections that are woven artfully around each other. The path you are on, and the paths that others are taking may not be straight or narrow, but when in their diversity they are lived in harmony - they can weave a tapestry of beauty and completeness.
