In Celtic mythology dragons are considered guardians of the gates of heaven. They have gifts of vision and wisdom. They symbolize a link to the spiritual world.
What gifts do the guardians of your spiritual tradition give to you that enable you to deal with the trials of the pandemic virus crisis? My hope is that you receive gifts of love, friendship, compassion, and peace. When
light goes dim and darkness rushes in pleasant thoughts slide aside hope fades and life wavers May grace abound faith lift up the divine whisper softly to your soul You are loved I went for a walk this morning and was graced by the arrival of this dragonfly. In many parts of the world, a dragonfly symbolizes change, transformation, adaptability, and self-realization. I know I am not alone as I struggle to deal with the death and pain caused by racism and hatred in our world. My heart goes out to those who have suffered the loss of loved ones. My soul screams out for our leaders stop the hateful rhetoric. If the leaders won’t lead us in loving each other and living peacefully with each other, then we must change those who claim to lead us. The dragonfly is a symbol of change. Let us make the change and live compassionately with each other.
On a warm spring night, the sleepy northwoods town of Oakwood experiences the world-altering effects of an unusually brilliant aurora borealis. Multitudes of people disappear in what appears to be a religious rapture. At the same time, the technology of the world is plunged from the modern era to pre-industrial times. As the remnants struggle to understand what has happened, they must also scramble to survive. Does this lead to a dystopia (a place where life is difficult because of deprivation or oppression or terror), a utopia (a place or society that possesses highly desirable or nearly perfect qualities for its citizens), or something else?

May the light shine into your life and give you hope. There are days that I feel as though I live in two worlds. One world is filled with people who are positive, generous, and caring, the other is not. I live in the Burnsville area of Minnesota and when I leave my home for exercise, shopping, or eating - I encounter people who come from a great variety of ethnic backgrounds. These encounters are invariably positive.
But I also live in the world of the internet. When I go into this world I encounter far too many people who are filled with hatred for others and who have little regard or compassion for others. I am dismayed by the vitriol posted online. To be fair, there are many good people who post online and share good, positive, hopeful, and productive comments; however, the ones filled with ignorance and bigotry often stand out. I expect you encounter similar situations. So today I offer this supplication: May your life today - be on roads which rise above the fray. May your encounters with others - be filled with compassion and care. May your world - be blessed by those who meet you. May their world - be blessed by you. The changing color of the natural world is a harbinger of the shifting seasons. As I hear the comments of those in our society proclaiming their determination to work for peace, justice, human rights, health care for all, and environmental causes - I am given hope that their voices are harbingers of a better society for all of us.
