We seek understanding. We desire to comprehend the meaning is of what is happening around us. We want to understand ourselves, and we want other people to understand us.
The quest for understanding is commendable. But sometimes you just have to let it be a mystery.

Summertime is a time to experience the fullness of life. Consider these cherries. They are delightfully sweet, yet at the same time they have a tangy tartness that puckers the mouth. One cannot taste the sweetness without encountering the tartness. As I consider the events of the world this past week I notice that there has been some great cause for the celebration of human rights, while at the same time there has been the tragedy of suffering from terrorism. While we work to counter evil in this world, perhaps we can allow the bitterness of it make the sweetness of other human activities more appreciated. Like the cherry - the tartness can make us appreciate the sweetness.
We live in a world which all too often is consumed by violence. However, there are alternatives. People can cooperate and work together. Don't allow the tragedies and distortions of violence overpower you. Claim your humanity and and assert your dignity. May you live in peace, love, and harmony today.
What a delight it is to walk a path in the woods. One just never knows what wonderous sight or experience lies waiting around the next corner. Life is a bit like that - full of unexpected wonders and treasures. What delightful and unanticipated moments will you encounter today? Will you be open to experience them in all their fulness?
One of the important lessons to learn in life is to slow down and see the sunset. There are days when, as sunset nears and then commences, that I find myself rushing around trying to "get the perfect angle for taking a photo." The evening I took this photo, I found myself doing that very thing. I had to consciously tell myself to slow down, sit down, and let the setting sun bless the moment with its beauty. It allowed me to reflect on the wonder of the world and the blessings of relationships that surround me. That moment of peace and renewal is worth more than any photograph. Make the time to slow down and see the sunset.
Life can be so delicate. One little touch could send these droplets cascading from the web. Will you walk softly on this earth today, and will your touch be gentle?
