Some flowers bloom and bloom and bloom; with the blossoms taking turns as they come to full flowering. Some people I know are like this; time after time they bloom. What a delight!

A bee working during the hot days of summer may be busy, but the results carry it through the cold days of winter. Perhaps this can be a metaphor for our lives. As we struggle through some hot and busy times in life, those experiences can carry us through the cold and bitter times.
These pelicans were observed as they rode a gyre of warm air rising on a summer day. It is one way the elder pelicans teach their young. Teaching has been one of the joys of my life, so when I see an expression of it in the world around me, there rises a smile on my face and satisfaction in my heart. May the beauty and wonder of life bring you pleasure today.
There are times when a day of rain is welcome relief and renewal. It is a break from the heat and activity of summer. It is time to sit back, listen to the raindrops, and simply relax. When it rains in your life, listen to the rain. Allow it to renew your soul.
In the face of the violence in our society, people pray for peace. Perhaps each of us can make a personal vow to "let it begin with me." Leave fear and hatred behind. Share words and deeds of compassion and reconciliation.
If we have our eyes open, we can often see reflections of our past in the present. Sometimes they are images of success and high idealism, but at times they present pictures of failure and disgrace. Today, the Fourth of July, is a day in America when we celebrate the high idealism our nation is built upon and the successes we have achieved in working toward such ideals. But even as we do so, let us not forget the less than perfect elements of our past and present, as we continue our striving to make this "a more perfect union."
These windmills in a windmill museum demonstrate that wind power has a strong history in our land. Perhaps the beautiful and graceful-styled windmills of today speak of the promise of the future of our world.
