There are days that I feel as though I live in two worlds. One world is filled with people who are positive, generous, and caring, the other is not. I live in the Burnsville area of Minnesota and when I leave my home for exercise, shopping, or eating - I encounter people who come from a great variety of ethnic backgrounds. These encounters are invariably positive.
But I also live in the world of the internet. When I go into this world I encounter far too many people who are filled with hatred for others and who have little regard or compassion for others. I am dismayed by the vitriol posted online. To be fair, there are many good people who post online and share good, positive, hopeful, and productive comments; however, the ones filled with ignorance and bigotry often stand out. I expect you encounter similar situations. So today I offer this supplication: May your life today - be on roads which rise above the fray. May your encounters with others - be filled with compassion and care. May your world - be blessed by those who meet you. May their world - be blessed by you.

The changing color of the natural world is a harbinger of the shifting seasons. As I hear the comments of those in our society proclaiming their determination to work for peace, justice, human rights, health care for all, and environmental causes - I am given hope that their voices are harbingers of a better society for all of us.
