A still, foggy morning like this morning can give opportunity and encouragement to step back for a moment, to let life be still around you, and to know the divine.

There are times in life when you may feel tattered and torn by the difficulites of life, or you may feel as though you are old and your beauty has faded. Forget not the divine life that lives within you and that the seeds which you still carry within you will bear fruit and beauty for generations and ages to come.
I enjoy watching the beauty of the natural world, but sometimes things about the human constructed world also capture my attention. They have a beauty of their own. I spent some time in Duluth with family and one of the things we saw were the sights and sounds of this ore carrier passing under the Lift Bridge. Human ingenuity and endeavor can be beautiful.
I used a camera flash on this picture to reveal the color of the flowers as the day was descending into twilight. Ours lives can be like this. Sometimes as we descend into the twilight of a working day, or into the twilight of our years, we can use a little light to reveal the beauty that is there. Will you be that light to reveal someone else's beauty?
As each day dawns, I have a decision to make - How will I live this day? My attitude will influence all I say and do. Much of what happens around me will reflect the attitude I project. I choose to approach today with hope, love, and peace. May you have a wonderful day.
I have shared this picture previously, but it provokes many thoughts. One thought - for a resident or summer visitor to Cumberland we become entranced with the beautiful, and all-to-brief, days of summer. These days seem to fly by. Our challenge is to fully engage and enjoy every moment to its full measure, and to do it without clinging to a moment (even in the very recent past) thereby losing full engagement in the present. Live, love, enjoy the moment. Let the memory of it be a memory that fills you and enables you to see the wonder of your present.
Every morning the dew is heavy upon the flowers - unasked for.
Grace is showered upon us all - unasked for. Could we say that "Life is a gratuity" - the giving of thanks? There are different ways to view webs. They can be seen in a negative light - as that which trap and entangle. But they can also be viewed from a positive perspective - as that which provides nourishment and support, or that which ties and holds things together. Today might be a day to recognize and avoid the negative webs in your life, and to celebrate and enjoy the positive webs.
After the storm comes the rainbow. This is a life lesson that is sometimes difficult to remember. Sometimes the storms seem too long, too strong, too overwhelming. Sometimes we forget to look for the rainbow. Sometimes the rainbow is hidden from us. Sometimes we simply cease to look. We give up. But there is the rainbow, and perhaps someone will help us lift our eyes that we might again experience the power of the rainbow.
