Sure signs of Spring! The arrival of the Goldfinches and the budding forth of the trees. Enjoy the day!
With my first look, I thought I saw some loons on the water, but a second look revealed that they were mergansers. Do you ever look and see an object, only upon closer observation to realize it is something else? Perhaps it is wise to look twice.
Today dawns cloudy and with a fine drizzle in the air. What a perfect time to sit in silence and look closely at the world around us. Listen to the soft rain. Focus on the beauty of nature which surrounds us - even in the small details. Consider the words of the psalmist, "Be still, and know that I am God."
The smallest first flowers of Spring and the greening of the earth remind us of the power of nature. We have within ourselves the power and potential to destroy the earth, and the power to live in harmony with it, stewarding its beauty and wonders. Take the time on this "Earth Day" to see the beauty around you and to commit yourself to preserving it and protecting it.
Two mornings ago I was able to get in my canoe for the first time this Spring. I was treated to some beautiful sights and sounds. As the light increased with the approach of dawn I was graced by this moment of sky blue waters. What a calming and peaceful time to be filled with the essence of the Divine Presence.
In two short days, this lovely house that has been home for 19 years goes on the market. There is some sadness in leaving it because of the gorgeous views and all the wonderful memories with family and friends, but I am also happy that someone else will get to enjoy it. Too often in life we think we "own" things, when the truth is simply that we are using them for a short period of time. May the next users enjoy this location as much as I have.
These geese are winging their way into the new day on a warm Spring morning. What will their day bring them? What will your day bring you as you wing your way into the day?
Each day begins with a promise. The beauty of the sunrise is a divine promise of beauty that will fill this day. It touches our hearts and souls and reminds us of how small we are in comparison to the grandness of the universe. Yet, the delight of the moment upon our senses also reminds us that we are a part of this infinite wonder.
What joy there is in seeing this pair slice the air in perfect synchrony. They do it not through intention, but through instinct. Consider what there may be that you do by instinct. Is not the desire to see beauty and experience love central to the core of who you are? Is that not true of others? Can we be in synchrony?
