Summertime is a time to experience the fullness of life. Consider these cherries. They are delightfully sweet, yet at the same time they have a tangy tartness that puckers the mouth. One cannot taste the sweetness without encountering the tartness. As I consider the events of the world this past week I notice that there has been some great cause for the celebration of human rights, while at the same time there has been the tragedy of suffering from terrorism. While we work to counter evil in this world, perhaps we can allow the bitterness of it make the sweetness of other human activities more appreciated. Like the cherry - the tartness can make us appreciate the sweetness.
